Snacktime Triumph

Behold! Banana Ice Cream!

Frozen Bananas + Blender = Greatest Dessert in History

Oh, the simplicity of it all. I wish I had thought of it myself.
Pacato asked me if my way around the "no processed foods" rule is just to make it all myself. I suppose it is, but mostly I'm just stoked on realizing how easy it is to make foods I might otherwise have bought. PLUS I have complete control over what goes into them.

I think this little treat may be my substitute for birthday cake this year.

  1. This is perfect! I always drool when I see people having ice cream but I never eat because I don't like the after effects of so much sugar.
    My summer is saved!
Do you freeze the bananas with skin?

  2. Peel them, and cut them into 1/2 inch or so slices. Then freeze overnight and let them sit out for about 5 minutes before you put them in the food processor. Voila!

3 bananas made enough for my 140g snack plus a serving for Pacato.

  3. If you want to add a little exotic zing, add a teeny tiny bit of ground cardamom. It plays well with bananas.

  4. MMMM... wish I could find that!

  5. You could also make ice cream with the old coffee can trick! Then you could incorporate the can-rolling into your workout somehow. :)

  6. Erm, yes to the adding cardamom!
